Let Us Pray
Lord,
By the light of the Holy Spirit you have taught the hearts of your faithful.
In the same Spirit help us to delight in what is right and always rejoice in your consolation. As we rise to meet each new day, please let us be filled with Your spirit. Wherever we go, let us spread love, joy, peace, goodness, and faithfulness. Let us desire to become more like you and to worship you in all we do. Thank you for always going before us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful.
And kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.
And you will renew the face of the earth.
Feast of Pentecost
This great feast was celebrated last Sunday 28th May. The Catholic Tradition of Pentecost signifies 50 days (or seven Sundays) since the Resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday. It concluded the Easter season and celebrates the beginning of the church’s mission to the world. In the Christian tradition, Pentecost is the celebration of the person of the Holy Spirit coming upon the Apostles, Mary, and the first followers of Jesus, who were gathered together in the Upper Room. A “strong, driving” wind filled the room where they were gathered, and tongues of fire came to rest on their heads, allowing them to speak in different languages so that they could understand each other. The Holy Spirit also gave the apostles the gifts and fruits necessary to fulfill the great commission – to go out and preach the Gospel to all nations. Pentecost is considered the birthday of the Church – Peter, the first Pope, preaches for the first time and converts thousands of new believers. The apostles and believers, for the first time, were united by a common language, and a common zeal and purpose to go and preach the Gospel.
A reading from Acts
After Jesus rose from the dead, the apostles of Jesus were sitting together in one room, when suddenly they heard a strong wind blowing right through the whole house. They could see flames of fire everywhere, that came and touched each one of them. In this way, they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. At once they went outside and began to tell everyone the story of Jesus. There were people there from every country in the world. Even though they all did not speak the same language they all understood the apostles and heard the good news of Jesus. The word of the Lord
Sacrament of First Reconciliation
Congratulations to the Year 3 students on celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation on May 25th. May the God of Forgiveness always bless them. May they remember that when you are sorry God always loves and forgives you. Thank you to the teachers Miss Selena, Miss Mackay, Mrs Anne, Mrs Clare, the support staff Mrs Grace, Mrs Michelle, Ms Walsh and to the parents for their work and support in preparing the children for the Sacrament. Also a thank you to Fr Peter and visiting priests Fr Michael and Fr George. In the words of Pope Francis: “The Sacrament of Reconciliation calls us back to God and embraces us with his infinite mercy and joy. May we allow his love to renew us as his children and to reconcile us with him, with ourselves and with one another.”

St Vincent De Paul Appeal
This week we began the Winter Vinnie’s appeal for the wonderful society of St Vincent De Paul. As a community your generosity was visible with the Project Compassion appeal. The St Vincent de Paul Society assists people experiencing poverty and inequality and works to shape a more just and compassionate society. This year the society is reaching out to all communities to assist them once again with the Winter appeal. With the support of the school Children’s Social Justice team each classroom will be asked for donations.
WHAT TO DONATE
Decided it’s time to declutter? Or the kids have outgrown their clothes, but they’re still in excellent condition? By donating your pre-loved winter items to Vinnies they will get a new life, support Australians doing it tough and reduce landfill and the impact on the environment. When considering whether something can be donated to Vinnies, the rule of thumb is if you’d give it to a friend, then it’s ok to give to Vinnies.
Men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, blankets and accessories are most welcome. Your donation will help to support those who are in most need.
