Term 1 Week 8
What a fabulous day the children had during the colour run. So much excitement, laughter and plenty of colour. Thank you to the Parents Auxiliary for organising this fundraising event.
Our Men Of St Augustine’s (MOSA) group organised their first event for the year. A night of barefoot bowls was enjoyed by many. There are events organised for each term. If you would like to join call Teghan on 0418 338 354
Confirmation is just around the corner for our year 6 children. Families have participated in a parent/child sacrament night and attended a presentation mass at St Christopher’s. They will be attending a reflection day next Monday. Please pray for our children as they continue to prepare for Confirmation on Friday 28th March.
Monday the 10th March saw the staff engage in professional Learning. These days are crucial for the continuation of informed, contemporary teacher practices allowing staff to develop and improve their skills for greater impact in the classroom. During this day we focused on literacy and the latest pedagogy around brain science and how we learn from taking information into our short term memory and then how we can process it into our long term memory. Retrieval practices is a learning strategy that enhances memory retention by actively recalling information from memory, rather than passively rereading or reviewing materials. It strengthens memory connections, making it easier to retrieve information later. Teachers are using various forms of this in the classroom as they assist children with increasing longer-term retention.
The school calendar for term 2 has been published in this newsletter in the ‘Notice Board’ page. Please take note of the whole school closure days, particularly Monday 28th April. We also have our whole school athletics carnival on the first week back on Wednesday 24th April at Keilor Athletics track.
