LET US PRAY
Father in heaven, all creation rightly gives you praise, for all life and all holiness come from you. In the plan of your wisdom Mary who bore your son Jesus Christ in her womb was raised body and soul in glory to be with you in heaven. O Blessed Mary, you are our mother. You shine forth as a sign of hope and joy for all of us. You point the way to Jesus. Grant that we may follow your example on earth thereby following your Son Jesus in all we do. May we one day share your glory, with Him. Amen
Our prayer honours Mary the mother of Jesus and our mother. This week on the 15th August the church celebrated “The Feast of the Assumption.” This great feast tells us that when Mary died her body and soul went straight to heaven. This is what we believe as Catholics. Mary was a great woman of faith, and we can follow her example in our lives.
Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

ST MARY MACKILLOP AUSTRALIA’S FIRST SAINT.
Last week the church remembered and celebrated the feast of St Mary MacKillop Australia’s first Saint. She was born in Melbourne in 1842 and died in Sydney on the 8th August in 1909. Mary took the religious name, Mary of the Cross. The cross was a very special sign to Mary, as she knew the pain and struggle of many obstacles in her life and was always ready to forgive those who treated her unjustly. She was a truly an inspirational Australian woman ahead of her time who lived her life for the poor and needy – for those whom society rejected. Her love for her God enabled her to reach out to the most deprived and despised in the colony in her time. St Mary’s contribution and influence to Catholic education in Australia saw her set up the first Catholic school in a rundown stable at Penola St Australia. This was followed by the establishment of many more Catholic schools across Australia. We give thanks for Mary’s bravery and courage as an ordinary Australian who was able to achieve much in her lifetime. Filled with compassion she extended love and friendship to everyone who needed her. Her actions and ministry reflected her motto “Never see a need without doing something about it.”
