Salve a tutti / Hi everyone

Italian Festa Day at St Augustine’s –Wednesday 16th October

A day where Italian language, art, food and sport will be celebrated in our school community.

This event at St Augustine’s, provides students exposure to Italian culture and enables students to develop respect for cultural diversity.

Students will immerse themselves in many fun and engaging Italian activities throughout the day.

Students are encouraged to wear an Italian themed costume representing an Italian icon e.g. Pinocchio, a gondoliere, a famous Italian artist, a popular Italian car, Italian food, a chef, Mona Lisa, la Befana etc. Use your imagination and get some inspiration from Italian culture and folklore.

If students do not have a costume they could wear something with the Italian colours (green, white, red).

Please ensure that comfortable, closed shoes are worn on the day.

The Costume Parade will take place during school time. Gelato and 1 slice of Margherita Pizza  will also be provided to all students as part of the fesitve celebration.

Sports News

District Athletics: We have had a great term of PE and sport across all levels at St. Augustines! Athletics was a highlight for many students that were part of the Athletics team. 44 students ranging from Years 3-6 competed against 10 other schools and did such an incredible job. St. Augustine’s won the Aggregate Shield which is awarded to the school with the highest points, awarding St. Augustine’s the overall District Champions. A huge achievement for our young athletes! However, it was the feedback that the school received about how our students conducted themselves so respectfully, congratulated others and were all round great sports that made the day a huge success.

Click on the Athletics video Link to view images of our students competing- Thanks David!

Divisional Athletics: Congratulations to the 23 students who progressed onto the next stage and competed at the Divisional Athletics Championships. The student’s determination, amazing skill level and outstanding results were a credit to them and the team. We now cheer on 8 students who have progressed onto the Regional Championships, this will be taking place in October. We wish the following students the best of luck in their events: Ruby (800m), Cody (1500m, 800m), Marcus (100m, 800m, High Jump), Parker (Hurdles), Sabrina (100m), Mason (Shot Put), Ollie (200m) and Logan (Discus).

Taekwondo: We were lucky enough to have a representative from Hall’s Taekwondo come to our school to run Taekwondo sessions for our Year 3-6 students. It was a fantastic opportunity, over a 4 week period, for students to learn about a martial art sport and practise basic skills such as striking, blocking and kicking. It was also a great stepping stone for those students who are interested in finding out more about Taekwondo.

Award Winners

Congratulations to the following Award recipients for going above and beyond to make a difference. This week we recognise and celebrate those students who have been inclusive and accepting of others.
