Italian Mask Parade

During our Italian lessons, the students have learned all about “Carnevale”. Carnevale is an exciting, traditional celebration held in Italy 2 weeks before Lent and is famous for the spectacular parades and masks worn.

The students have shown amazing creativity in designing and decorating their own Carnevale masks and were given the opportunity to showcase their masks at our parade. It was great to see and hear the excitement amongst the students as they displayed their masks and saw the many different disguises. ‘VIVA CARNEVALE’.

Sustainability News

On Tuesday 4th March our Year 3/4 students eagerly participated in Clean Up Australia Day. As part of our Sustainability focus this term our 3/4 students have been investigating ways that we can make a difference for the environment by reducing our waste levels. Students have been exploring how long it takes  different items to break down when they end up in landfill.

It has certainly been eye opening for our students to discover the problems with some everyday items that we consume. Through our Inquiry unit we are exploring ways to make a difference in our local community so to be part of Clean Up Australia Day was a great opportunity to do something for our local community. The students and teachers, armed with gloves and containers, went into Linear Park (next to the school) and removed all the rubbish. It was quite a shock for our students to discover the types of items that had been discarded. After we had cleaned the park the students went through the entire school grounds. It was a confronting shock for the students to discover the amount of discarded cubeez packaging that was around our school grounds. The students had to count and catagorise the items collected in our morning and this data has been added to the Clean Up Australia rubbish count figures for 2025. Congratulations to our 3/4 students and teachers who enthusiastically took the time to make a difference in our community.
