Feast Day Celebrations

St Augustine’s day was a very fun day for everyone to celebrate St Augustine’s feast day. At the start of the day the 5/6s led the school liturgy then some of the 5/6 students went to other classes to do arts and crafts. During lunchtime some talented students performed for the St Augustine got talent. They showed amazing bravery performing in front of so many people. The intention was to have fun and games outside, but it rained so we had to be flexible and changed to play indoor games instead. Everyone still had lots of fun and enjoyment.

Book Week Parade

On Monday we celebrated Book Week with a parade. Everyone dressed up as their favourite book character, the teachers even dressed up as characters from a book too.

The 3/4 classes celebrated by doing rotational book week activities. These include using the shortlisted book Squidge Dibley. We drew him and our own characters , we made pencil toppers from the book Malala’s Magic Pencil, and we also made origami bookmarks . The 3/4 teachers dressed up as penguins from Franks red hat, the 1/2 teachers were bumblebees , the 5/6 teachers were penguins and icebergs, and the prep teachers were crayons.

This was such a fun day for students and teachers so we look forward for another fun day like this next year.

District Athletics

Last week a team of 47 students participated in the District Athletics. Congratulations to all! We had a fantastic day in the sunshine competing, cheering and supporting our team mates and other schools. Many shiny ribbons were won and we now have a team of 15 students who will be progressing onto the next level of competition at the Divisional Championships. Stay tuned for results!

Cross Country

Cody in Year 5 represented St. Augustine’s at the State Championships for Cross Country. Cody ran an outstanding race and placed 22 out of 93 runners. We are extremely proud of his efforts in making it to this top level of the competition. Congratulations Cody!

Soccer Clinics

To coincide with the incredible campaign of the Matildas at the Women’s World Cup we have been working on our soccer skills across all year levels. A curriculum link to Italian saw our Year 5/6s participating in a professional soccer clinic whereby they fine tuned their skills and expressed their enthusiasm for the world game! Some future Matilda and Socceroo players in our midsts!
