Term 2 Week 4
Happy Mothers day once again to all our mothers grandmothers and significant figures in our children’s lives. I hope you all managed to enjoy some ‘me’ time on the day and time to enjoy breakfast in bed, gifts from your children and time with your family. The MOSA and Parents Auxiliary held a mothers day breakfast last Friday with many mums coming in for the morning to enjoy a cuppa, croissant and a beautiful rose from their children. Thank you to Sean, Marty, Tim, Chris and Claire for organising the morning. There were many smiles and time to chat with other mums. Thanks to Lauren for organising the beautiful roses. Thank you to Big Child Care for organising and funding the coffee van. It was wonderful to gather together under the beautiful sunshine!
Thank you to Donna Schepis and her band of ladies who ran the the mothers day stall last week. The gifts organised were wonderful. I even bought my own mother a gift from the stall!
Congratulations to our students who ran in the cross county last week. We had 12 children who will proceed to the next stage. It is a grueling event and I am proud of all those who participated in both the trials and the event at Brimbank Park.
We have another St Augustine’s staff baby to celebrate. Congratulations to Anna and Paul Bird on the safe arrival of Charlie on the 16th May. A brother for Darci Rose and Willow.
We are looking for anyone who may know someone or who has any leftover pieces of synthetic turf. I need a piece 3×8 meters. Call the office if you can help.
Monday 29th May is a school closure day as staff work with Helen Butler with a focus on Evidence Based Learning in the area of Feedback. There are no children onsite this day.
I am pleased to say that the building and renovations works are full steam ahead. We have recently taken possession of the student bathrooms. The children were very excited about the newly renovated toilets with some comments of, ‘This is better than a five star hotel’, ‘These are better than my mum’s bathroom’, ‘This is better than the bathroom in my caravan’! Quite funny comments but nevertheless a show of appreciation for the new look bathrooms. The steel work for the deckings and new multipurpose room is underway after delays with delivery of the steel. We hope to have stage one completed by September 1st. This will include the six classrooms. Stage two, the staffroom and resource room, will be after this.
Next Thursday our Year 3 students will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation at St Christopher’s church starting at 6.30pm. This is their first sacrament at school. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
I am currently interviewing for prospective 2024 prep children and new families. It has been a delight to meet these families and listen to their stories and reasons for wanting a Catholic education at St Augustine’s. Many of them have made this decision based on the testimonies of current families. Thank you for your positive and supportive comments about our school. It takes a ‘village’ and what a beautiful village we have at St Augustine’s!
