Term 1 Week 8
Dear Families,
As I sit here writing this newsletter on belhalf of Cathy who is currently on leave it is hard to believe that we are already in March and are heading towards the Easter break. It has been an extremely busy Term 1 and I’m sure everyone is looking forward to the break. Our students have shown great persistence and flexibility in their learning this term and are looking forward to some time away from their books and screens. Thank you to our wonderful staff for your ongoing support and dedication -you are all truly amazing!
The next week is also jam packed as we finish our Year 3-6 Swimming Program and prepare to celebrate Easter together as a Catholic Community with our Easter Liturgy so please make sure you take time to read through all the sections in this weeks newsletter so you don’t miss anything.
Last Tuesday was a whole school closure day where the staff met with MACS staff to continue with our School Review process. We looked at school data and areas that have shown improvement and areas to focus on. The Religious Education sphere was also audited. All Catholic schools undertake a review process every 4 years. The process allows the school to highlight the priorities and practices that support student outcomes through school improvement and effectiveness while highlighting areas for celebration and areas of opportunity. This evidenced-based process/framework is designed:
- to assist schools and teachers to improve student outcomes
- to satisfy legitimate expectations of government and sector authorities. (policies, processes, child safety)
Last Friday our Student Leaders and Student SRC reps attended the Catholic Education Week Mass with Mrs Barone and Mrs Fedoruk. This annual event is held to promote the special ethos of Catholic schools and to highlight the great things that take place in Catholic schools every day. This Year’s theme is ‘In the light of Christ.’ The theme originates from the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) strategic plan, MACS 2030: Forming Lives to Enrich the World. Catholic education strives to make a difference in the lives of those in our schools and in the wider community by challenging young people to live out the message of Jesus and walk the way of the gospel to reach their full potential as compassionate, contributing,life-giving members of society.
Tomorrow night Friday 22nd March our Yr 6 Students will celebrate their Confirmation (6pm @ St Christopher’s Church Airport West) This is a beautiful day of commitment, celebration, and joy. As our students celebrate this special milestone, may the Holy Spirit be with them to renew and strengthen their commitment to follow Christ. A big ‘Thank you’ to our Yr 56 teachers and Frances Barone for all their hard work in preparing our children and organising the Liturgy.
Our Easter Liturgy will be held next Thursday 28th March @ 9.15am in Cooinda and will be led by our Year 3/4 Students- All welcome
A big ‘Thankyou’ to all those families that have donated Easter goodies to the PA. Please check out the Parents page for more information. The Easter Raffle will be drawn on the last day of term at 12.30pm on the Asphalt area – All welcome.
A reminder that the Last day of Term will be an Early 1pm Finish on Thursday 28th March.
